Summer Camp August 4 to August 11, 2007 Circle X Ranch at Big Horn Forest Lawn Scout Reservation 29485 Hook Creek Road P.O. Box 8 Cedar Glen, CA 92321-0008 Click the photos to see enlarged views A week at Boy Scout Summer Camp is something Scouts remember all their lives. It is a tremendous opportunity to enjoy all that Scouting can be as well as make great strides along the Scouting Trail to Eagle Scout rank. The upper right photo shows a past encampment. We typically stay in the 'Lower Virginia City' campsite, which is about 100 yards from the dinning hall. Each canvas tent has a metal frame that holds a plywood floor. Tent flaps can be tied open for ventilation. Each tent has two cots with a vinyl-covered mattress pad. Full Class A Uniform is required for the evening flag ceremony and dinner each night. Competitions determine who eats first, and one of them is uniform inspection, so don't forget to bring your full uniform to camp. The dining hall is only a few years old. We eat meals together as a Troop, and we select a camp staff member to eat with us for dinner. Troops even come from other states, so there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy "the fellowship of FLSR". There is a large pool, teepees, a Trading Post, handicraft, archery, climbing, shotgun, and rifle venues; plus a wide range of programs for merit badges and a Pathfinder program to help Scouts reach 1st Class rank. Download the Leader's Guide for complete details. Circle X Ranch is virtually intact despite the fact that half of the Scout Reservation was burned in last year's wildfires. The 5-mile drive into the heart of the Forest Lawn Scout Reservation may look bad, but everything is good to go at Circle X. Camp Guide and Required Forms Other photos of interest Related web sites |
